So, it is done. Well, aside from the distance selling regulations allowing me my 7-days-no-questions-return-if-I-change-my-mind way out, I went for the mid-range of the three lenses:
Nikon 24-120mm f4 G VR
So it's an FX lense I'll be using on a DX body. But it will work for me. It's replacing my kit lense: an 18-135mm G with no VR and f3.5-5.6 widest aperture range. For a kit lense, it's done me well enough, and the reason I didn't go for the smaller step up to the 16-85mm was that looking through the exif info on the majority of my shots - it's only the odd few I shot (well, kept) at the lense's widest range. I do like the occasional wide shot for environment context in a range of shots around the same subject, but the majority of my others shots were +24mm, if not fully zoomed at 135mm. The extra range from 85mm to 120mm will hopefully be put to better use than 16-24. I'm also hoping it to be better build quality.
Anyway it'll arrive tomorrow, and no doubt will follow with some exploration shots around Bristol!
